Jābir ibn Hayyān : ウィキペディア英語版
Jabir ibn Hayyan

Abu Mūsā Jābir ibn Hayyān ((アラビア語:جابر بن حیان), , often given the nisbahs al-al-Bariqi, al-Azdi, al-Kufi, al-Tusi or al-Sufi; fl. c. 721c. 815),〔(【引用サイトリンク】title= Abu Musa Jabir ibn Hayyan )〕 also known as Geber, was a prominent polymath: a chemist and alchemist, astronomer and astrologer, engineer, geographer, philosopher, physicist, and pharmacist and physician. Born and educated in Tus, he later traveled to Kufa and his father came from Syria (bilad al-Sham). He is referred to as the Father of early chemistry.〔John Warren (2005). "War and the Cultural Heritage of Iraq: a sadly mismanaged affair", ''Third World Quarterly'', Volume 26, Issue 4 & 5, p. 815-830.〕〔Dr. A. Zahoor (1997). (JABIR IBN HAIYAN (Geber) ). University of Indonesia.〕
As early as the 10th century, the identity and exact corpus of works of Jabir was in dispute in Islamic circles. His name was Latinized as "Geber" in the Christian West and in 13th-century Europe an anonymous writer, usually referred to as Pseudo-Geber, produced alchemical and metallurgical writings under the pen-name Geber.
